How to Prepare for a Walk

Before heading out to attend an HPHP: Bay Area program, follow these tips to prepare for an enjoyable experience.

Talk to your doctor:

If you have not been active over the course of a long period of time or have other health conditions please consult your primary care physician to make sure you are able to participate in easy to moderate physical activity.

What to wear:

  • Dress comfortably in layers (such as a light jacket or sweatshirt) and clothing you feel comfortable being active in
  • Wear comfortable, well-fitting and supportive walking shoes that have good tread
  • If walking at night near traffic, wear reflectors or reflective clothing
  • Wear rain gear if there is a question of rain occurring
