Description:
We will walk along the perimeter of the 1915 Panama Pacific Exposition (now the Marina District) and discuss how this international attraction played an important role in rebuilding the city's confidence after the 1906 earthquake and fire. We will discuss the effect the opening of the Panama Canal had on the shipping instustru, and the links between the Canal and the ships of the Hyde Street Pier. RSVP: rejane_butler@nps.gov
